Oil Pipeline Cast Iron Pressure Reducing Valve
Product Features
The 200X is a pilot-operated pressure reducing valve, meaning the main valve only opens and closes under the command of a small brass pilot - that is what gives it the ±5% outlet accuracy most direct-acting valves cannot hold. Three things stand out on the shop floor: the cast iron body is poured to ASTM A126 Class B with full-pressure wall thickness (no thin-wall shortcuts), the pilot is machined brass with a locking adjustment screw so the set point will not drift under vibration, and the seat is matched to your media - NBR for water and light oil, EPDM for hot water, Viton for heavier hydrocarbons. Flow range is 10% to 100% of rated capacity; below 10%, we recommend a smaller trim rather than a valve that hunts.
Manufacturing Process
Every body is cast in resin-sand molds, then heat-treated to relieve internal stress before machining. Each casting batch is checked by spectrometer before it reaches the lathe - we have seen too many "cheap" valves fail at 1.5x test pressure because the iron was off-grade. After machining, every valve goes through a 1.5x working pressure hydrostatic test on both shell and seat, plus an air test on the pilot. The body is coated inside and out with 250-micron epoxy (red or blue), and the trim is stainless steel or brass depending on your service. If you want third-party witness testing, we can arrange SGS or BV at your cost - we do this on about 30% of our oil field orders.
Applications
Where you will actually see this valve: oil field station water systems, where it protects downstream pumps and meters from pressure spikes when the well test header swings; diesel and lubricating oil transfer lines at tank farms, where the Viton seat version handles the hydrocarbons; fire water ring mains, where it keeps the booster pump discharge below the sprinkler system rating; and municipal water distribution, where it trims the mains pressure down to a level the pipe network was designed for. It is not the right valve for steam service, nor for lines carrying hydrogen sulfide - for sour service you need a WCB steel body, and we will tell you so instead of taking the order.
Packing And Shipping
Flanged valves ship in individual plywood cases with foam end-caps - the flange faces are greased and covered so they arrive rust-free. Small sizes (2"–4") can be consolidated into wooden crates up to 20 pcs per crate; 6" and above get one valve per case. Each case carries a stenciled mark with the valve size, pressure rating, and your PO number. We load at Tianjin or Shanghai; a 20'GP holds roughly 350 pcs of DN50 or 90 pcs of DN150. Seaworthy export packing is included in the FOB price, and we can arrange palletization if your port handles break-bulk better than containers.
After-sales Service
We back the 200X with a 12-month warranty from the date of shipment - not from the date of purchase, which is how some traders stretch the clock. If a valve fails in that window due to material or workmanship, we replace it free of charge; freight is shared 50/50. For spares, we keep pilot valves, diaphragms and seat kits in stock for all sizes 2" to 12", and we can air-freight a pilot to most oil field countries within a week.
