Carbon Steel Ball Check Valve
Product Introduction
The Carbon Steel Ball Check Valve is a non return valve designed to prevent reverse flow in piping systems. Unlike traditional swing check valves that rely on gravity and can fail in horizontal runs, this valve uses a spring assisted mechanism to push the ball back into the seat the moment forward flow stops. The result is reliable sealing even at low differential pressures and in any mounting orientation.
The valve body is cast from WCB carbon steel per ASTM A216, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including water treatment, oil and gas, chemical processing, steam systems, and fire protection. The ball is precision ground to a surface finish of Ra 0.4 microns or better, which minimizes friction against the seat ring and reduces the risk of scaling or sticking over time.
Internally, the trim is fully interchangeable. The ball material and seat ring can be swapped to match different media conditions without changing the valve body. This means one stock keeping unit covers multiple service conditions, which simplifies inventory management for distributors and end users alike.
Features
Spring Assisted Closure A calibrated spring pushes the ball into the seat when flow stops. The valve seals in horizontal lines and supports vertical installation with upward flow direction.
Precision Ground Ball Surface finish of Ra 0.4 microns reduces seat wear and mineral buildup and extends maintenance intervals.
Full Trim Interchangeability Ball materials SS304 SS316 and ceramic and seat materials PTFE PEEK and metal can be swapped in the same body. This reduces spare parts variety and inventory cost.
Inconel Spring for High Pressure Class 600 and above use Inconel X 750 spring material which does not relax or fatigue under high temperature cycling.
Blowout Proof Stem The stem is inserted from inside the body and retained by internal pressure. It cannot eject even if the packing fails.
Bubble Tight Shutoff PTFE seats achieve FCI 70 2 Class VI leakage rate. Helium leak testing is available for gas service.
Advantages
Seals at Low Differential Pressure The valve closes at 0.02 MPa while most check valves require 0.1 MPa or more. This is a clear advantage in systems with variable flow or frequent pump cycling.
Compact Design Shorter face to face dimension than swing check and dual plate check valves. Suitable for skid mounted systems and tight piping layouts.
No Water Hammer The spring closes the ball before reverse flow accelerates, eliminating pressure surges that damage pipe joints and pumps.
Inline Maintenance Threaded versions allow spring preload adjustment without removing the valve. Flanged versions allow bonnet removal for internal access while the body stays in place.
