The right-angle turn a water treatment plant reaches for is a malleable-iron elbow, annealed after casting so the body forgives the rough handling a spares box collects. Ends are BSPT or NPT threads, with socket weld held on request where the backwash line runs in a size a thread does not cover. The barrel is zinc-plated on the line to slow the corrosion a humid pump-room throws at it.
