Malleable Iron Plug
It is a malleable iron plug, mainly used to seal pipe ends or openings. Standard sizes from 1/8" to 6" are available. Threads can be NPT, BSPT, or BSP. Head types such as hex head, square head, and countersunk are also available. Material conforms to ASTM A197. Surface finishes can be black paint, electro-galvanized, or hot-dip galvanized. Its advantages are very practical: strong enough, pressure-resistant, and impact-resistant, with good thread engagement. During installation, with PTFE tape or a little sealant, sealing is quite worry-free.
Malleable Iron Plug
I'd like to walk you through our malleable iron plug. It's an external-thread plug for closing off female ports on pipes, valves, and fittings-any open port you don't want leaking. We cover 1/8" to 6", DN6 to DN150. NPT, BSPT, and BSP are standard; DIN or JIS we can look at. Heads: square, hex, and countersunk. Square and hex are easy with a wrench; countersunk sits flush so it doesn't get bumped. Material is ASTM A197 malleable iron, made to ASME B16.14 and B1.20.1; BS EN 10242 is also possible. Finish: black, electro-galvanized, or hot-dip galvanized. For outdoor or wet jobs, I'd go hot-dip. Class 150 is normally 300 psi WOG at 150°F, 150 psi steam; Class 300 is higher, normally 1000 psi WOG at 150°F, 300 psi steam-but we'll confirm by size and standard. Temp range is about -20°F to 350°F, some sizes up to 366°F. The nice thing about malleable iron is it's tough-not brittle like plain cast iron. It takes impact, holds pressure, and the threads are cut clean, so with PTFE tape or a bit of sealant you get a solid seal without fuss. No welding, easy on and off. It's used for capping pipe ends, plugging spare ports, pressure testing, and isolating lines during maintenance. Water, air, gas, steam, non-corrosive fluids-all fine. Fire protection, plumbing, oil and gas, chemical, construction, irrigation-very common. We can supply MTRs, the factory is ISO, and FM/UL can be arranged. Packing can be neutral, private label, or color box.
